Single Mother of 2, One autisc & unemployed due to domestic voilence
I am a single mother of 2 daughters, ages 10 and 17 with the oldest being diagnosied with Asperger's Syndrome since the age of 4. I was living on my own salary of $12.50hr with open child support cases for both of my girls. As always, the child support enforcement agency has been unable to collect any payments for my children. I tried to apply for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) as a supplemental income, but of course I was denied those benefits because I was a working mom. On July 23, 2008 I lost my job due to domestic violence and now unemployed. The state of Virginia does not recognize DV as a qualifying reason for seperation so I have had no income since the date above. I am currently appealing this decision and if God can give me the financial ability I plan on appealing all the way to Washington, DC. Due to my employment change, I have since lost my apartment of 4 years, where my Asperger's daughter was very secure, and have had to move to another state to reside with my mother. My only means of transportation is now at risk for repossession. It is truely a blessing she has allowed for us to come here but this major change has caused my daughter to become very depressed. Living here with my mother we have no room of our own. Our clothes are piled in the dining room, and sleeping arrangements vary nightly. My daughter is struggling very much. I have searched for work here in this area since my arrival and have yet to even get a job interview so that I can get my daughter back into her own space. I have posted my resume online and have had many hits on it in the Orlando, FL area so my goal is to try and get there by the end of October. The only problem I am running into is having the money for a security deposit and first month rent so that when we arrive we have a place to live. I am very confident I will find employment within the first 2 weeks of my arrival. That's my question to the government: What does this billion dollar bailout do for people like myself who have already been affected and pretty much homeless. I am wondersing in anybody knows of any organizations that are out there to help in matters like this. Just a short note, in the Women's World Magazine dated 10/6/08, pg40, there is an article which reads "They gave her a free down payment for a house". Ladies this article is about a single mother of a 10yr autistic boy whose housing arrangements weren't very steady and somehow her word got published and she was given %50,000.00 toward a down payment from 2 football players. Does anyone know where to post our needy situations for possible consideration.
